Unpacking a Fibre Channel Converter

1. Place the shipping container on a flat, clean, stable surface.

2. Carefully remove the converter and verify the contents against the packing

list. Check that all the following parts enclosed:

Fibre Channel converter

Power cable

Mounting brackets (with four Phillips screws that are already screwed
into the side of the extender) for a Fibre Channel converter rack-mount
installation

Five rubber feet (unused when installing in an enclosure or rack)

3. Remove the foam from the sides of the Fibre Channel converter and remove

it from the plastic bag. Save the original shipping container and packing
material in case future reshipment is necessary.

4. Visually inspect the Fibre Channel converter and notify your freight carrier

immediately of any damage.

Adding Fibre Channel Converters to an
Existing Installation

1. Connect all the cables on the fibre channel converters. Refer to Section 3,

Cabling the Fibre Channel Converter

.

Connect the Fibre Channel converter to the storage device.

Connect the Fibre Channel converter to the NonStop S-series server.

2. Use SCF to configure the converter and the attached storage device for the

NonStop S-series server.
