Domain Settings (Backup/Restore) screen

Use this screen to create a backup file of the Virtual Connect domain configuration or to restore a
configuration that has been lost. The domain configuration includes network definitions, MAC address

settings, WWN settings, Fibre Channel fabric settings, local user accounts, and server profile definitions. The

backup file stores the same information that is check-pointed between the active and standby modules during

normal operation.

To back up a domain configuration:

1.

Click Backup Configuration.

2.

Navigate to the hard drive location for the backup file.

3.

Name the file (usually the domain name), and then click Save.

To restore a domain configuration:

1.

Enter or browse to the backup file.

2.

Select the file.

3.

Select the Ignore enclosure serial number in restored configuration file checkbox to restore a
configuration that was generated on another enclosure. If this item is not selected, a configuration

generated on another enclosure is rejected.

4.

Select the Ignore firmware version in restored configuration file checkbox to allow restoring a domain
configuration from a backup file that was created using a previous version of VC firmware.

IMPORTANT:

Restoring a configuration from a backup file saved by firmware version later than

what is currently running is not supported. For example, if you are currently running Virtual

Connect Manager v2.00, you can restore a configuration from a backup file that was created
using v1.00 or v2.00, but not v3.00.

5.

Click Restore Configuration.

6.

Confirm the domain configuration to be restored, and then click OK.
