NOTE:

If a firewall exists between the Remote Web Console computer and the SVP, see

Chapter 2 of the HP XP7 Remote Web Console User Guide. In the section “Setting up TCP/IP
for a firewall”, the RMI port numbers listed are the only direct communication settings required
for the Export Tool.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software

To use the Export Tool, you must have the JRE software on your Windows or UNIX computer.
If your computer runs Remote Web Console, the required version of JRE is already installed
(Export Tool uses the same JRE version as Remote Web Console), and you can install the
Export Tool. If your computer does not run Remote Web Console but contains the required
version of JRE, you can install the Export Tool on your computer. If your computer does not
have the required JRE version, you need to install JRE before installing Export Tool. See the
HP XP7 Remote Web Console User Guide for the required JRE version.

User ID for exclusive use of the Export Tool

Before you can use the Export Tool, you must create a user ID for exclusive use of the Export
Tool. Assign only the Storage Administrator (Performance Management) role to the user ID
for the Export Tool. It is recommended that you do not assign any roles other than the Storage
Administrator (Performance Management) role to this user ID. The user who is assigned to the
Storage Administrator (Performance Management) role can do the following:

Save the monitoring data into files

Change the sampling interval

Start or stop monitoring by the set subcommand

For details on the creating of the user ID, see HP XP7 Remote Web Console User Guide.

The Export Tool program

CD-ROM Disc 2, which is named Host PP, contains the Export Tool. For information about
how to install the Export Tool, see

“Installing the Export Tool” (page 91)

.

CAUTION:

Always use the Export Tool corresponding to the microcode of the SVP. When

the microcode is changed, you must install the Export Tool version that is on the Host PP disk.
For the Export Tool version, see the Readme.txt on the Host PP disk.
