Some actions are useful for gaining more access to the selected device(s). For example, if you have installed a
management agent on a device following the last Toptools discovery cycle and now want to manage the device but
don’t want to wait for the next discovery to run, you can select Update Discovery to obtain new information on the
selected device immediately.

Toptools discovery uses the default SNMP community string ‘public’ when trying to identify SNMP devices on
your network. For example, if you have configured a different community on your switch, Toptools will not be able
to identify the switch until you enter the correct community for it to use to communicate with the device. Following
the entry of the correct SNMP community, you would want to select that device within the Device Selector, and then
execute the action ‘Update Discovery’.
