Problems

Causes and Solutions

Cannot add pool-VOLs.

Causes:

1,024 pool-VOLs are already set in the pool.

The requirements for the pool-VOLs are not fulfilled.

Solutions:

Add pool-VOLs to another pool. See

Creating Pools

” on page 44.

Add pool-VOLs that fulfill the requirements. See

Volume and Pool Requirements

” on page 27.

You cannot assign a V-VOL to a pool.

Cause:

The pool usage rate is 100%.

Solution:

Add some pool-VOLs to increase the available capacity of

the pool. See

” on page 44.

A pool-VOL is blocked.

Cause:

A failure occurred in two or more hard disk drives.

Solution:

Ask HP technical support to solve the problem.

A pool is blocked.

Cause:

The breaker has been turned off and the shared memory

has been lost, and then the system has been started.

Solution:

Ask HP technical support to solve the problem.

A problems occurs on the application

software installed in the host computer

in order to monitor the volumes.

Cause:

Free space for the pool is insufficient.

Solution:

Check the free space for the pool and increase the capacity

of the pool.

When the host computer tries to access

the port, an error occurs and the host

cannot access the port.

Cause:

Free space for the pool is insufficient.

Solution:

Check the free space for the pool and increase the capacity

of the pool.

When you are operating Remote Web

Console, a time-out occurs frequently.

Causes:

The load on the Remote Web Console computer is too

heavy, so the Remote Web Console computer cannot

respond to the SVP.

The period of time until a time-out occurs is set too short.

Solutions:

Wait for a while, and then try the operation again.

Verify the setting for the environment parameter of the

Remote Web Console RMI time-out period.

on page 59 occur, call HP technical support.
