6 Troubleshooting

If you have a problem with the Remote Web Console, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Remote Web

Console User’s Guide for troubleshooting information. If a Business Copy error code or message is

displayed on the Remote Web Console, see

General Troubleshooting

” on page 91 for a description of

the Business Copy error codes and recommended corrective action.

General Troubleshooting

Table 26

on page 91 provides general troubleshooting instructions for Business Copy operations.

Error

Corrective Action

The Remote Web Console computer

hangs, or Business Copy operations do

not function properly.

Make sure all Business Copy requirements and restrictions

are met.
Make sure the storage system is powered on and fully

functional. See the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Disk

Array Owner’s Guide for operational and troubleshooting

information for the storage system.
Check all input values and parameters to make sure that

you entered the correct information on the Business Copy

windows (for example, P-VOL and S-VOL IDs).

The volume pairs are not displaying

correctly.

Make sure the correct CU image is selected.

A Business Copy error message is

displayed on the Remote Web Console.

Remote Web Console displays an error message if an error

occurs during Business Copy operations. The Error dialog

box of Business Copy displays the error code and the

message (see

Figure 39

on page 92).

There is a problem with the Remote Web

Console.

Save the Java log file on the Remote Web Console, and

report to HP technical support.
For Windows 2000, the Java log file is in the following place:
c:\Documents and Settings\login user ID\plugin131.trace
Exit the Web browser, close all other applications, and then

restart the computer. If the problem persists, verify that

the computer’s operating system and LAN hardware and

software are properly configured.

The Business Copy pair status is incorrect

(or unexpected).

The pair may have been suspended or deleted from the

UNIX/PC server host using HP RAID Manager. If not, the

storage system detected an error condition during Business

Copy operations. Check the Remote Web Console error log.

If necessary, call the HP technical support for assistance.

There is a pinned track on a Business

Copy volume.

If a pinned track occurs on a Business Copy P-VOL or S-VOL,

the storage system will suspend the pair. Contact your HP

representative for assistance in recovering pinned tracks.

Only the Exit and Refresh menus are

effective when accessing the SVP from the

Remote Web Console.

The SVP might not be ready or perform some write processes

from the other system. Wait for a while, and then select File

and then Refresh from the window.

The Business Copy software displays error messages on the Remote Web Console computer when

error conditions occur during Business Copy operations. The Business Copy Error dialog box (see

Figure 39

on page 92) displays the Business Copy error code and message.
