OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
A start-stop switch to control the electric motor is located in the cab. In cold weather,
(below zero degrees centigrade), the motor should be allowed to run and circulate the
hydraulic oil for five minuted or longer before operating the hydraulic control levers. The
operator should remain in his seat while the motor is running. If temperatures below zero
degrees centigrade are anticipated, the electric heater in the oil tank should be turned on
twelve hours in advance of start-up. A switch is located inside of the electrical box that
controls the oil heater. Do not leave the heater on during operation after warm up.
During initial operation by an inexperienced operation, all movements of the controls for
lifting, lowering, swinging, etc. should be done slowly until he is accustomed to the move-
ments of the machine and can operate in a smooth deliberate manner without choppy or
jerky movements.
The unit is designed for its lifting capacity when the rake is positioned near the intake racks
and has less capacity as the boom is positioned to reach further out. Under no circum-
stances should any attempt be made to adjust the valves to circumvent the intent of the
original settings.
Although the unit will break ice up to 3/4” thickness while clearing debris, it is not intended
to be used as an icebreaker. Breaking heavy ice could do damage to the unit and the
installation.
