The subject was out of the working
range of the flash.
Shoot within the flash working range.
“FLASH MODE” was set to “
$”(flash
off).
Set “FLASH MODE” to other than

$” (flash off).
A small subject was shot with the
backlit condition.
Set “FLASH MODE” to “
#” (fill-in
flash mode) or set “METERING” to
“SPOT” before shooting.
Bright subjects (such as snow) will turn
out darker than their natural colors.
Set “SCENE SELECT” of the shooting
menu to “BEACH & SNOW” or adjust
“F” (exposure compensation) towards

The center of the composition was
bright.
If any bright subject is in the center of
the composition, the whole image may
become dark. Adjust “F” (exposure
compensation) towards +.
( The colors of pictures taken look unnatural.
Indoor lighting can affect the picture’s
colors.
Select the white balance to suit the
lighting.
There was no white in the subject.
Include something white in the picture,
or set “FLASH MODE” to “
#” (fill-in
flash mode).
The white balance setting was wrong.
Adjust the white balance according to
the light source.
