1. GENERAL

We thank you for selecting our product. Kastor sauna heaters are noted for their high quality and reliability.
This manual has been made for both the user and the installer of the heater. The instruction manual should
always be easily available. After the installation, the instruction manual should be given to the sauna owner or
to the person responsible for the sauna. Prior to any measures, read these instructions carefully, especially
the section “WARNINGS” on page 14.

2. INSTALLATION

2.1. The location of the heater

The minimum safety distances given in table 3 should be carried out when installing the heater. The safety
distances are also shown on the heater’s nameplate. The fastening measures for the wall bracket are shown
in picture 1A
. Do not cover the walls or the ceiling nearby the heater with additional plates, because the
temperature in the wall materials can rise to a dangerous level. When installing the heater in a niche, the
niche’s minimum height should be 1,900 mm and 2,100mm (9kW) the maximum depth 500 mm.

2.2. Mounting on the wall

The heater is equipped with a removable wall bracket for easy installation (picture 1b), which makes it
possible to fasten the screws and the wall mounting to the wall prior to installing the heater (picture 1A).
Fastening screws for mounting on a wooden wall are included in the delivery. Thin wooden panels are not
strong enough for a safe fastening. In this case, use a board or a plywood plate behind the heater to strengthen
the mounting points. For stone and brick walls, use heat-resisting special anchor fastenings only (no fastenings
with plastic plugs). The heater is lifted to its place as shown in the pictures 1c, 1d and 1e. Do not lift the
heater by the heating elements or by the upper steel panel in the back housing, but by the lower and upper
edge of the inner jacket. Free space for service should be left on one side of the heater.

2.3. Connecting to the electric power network

Before connecting the heater, check the technical specifications on the table. Only an authorised, skilled
electrician in accordance with the regulations in force should do the connecting work. The heater is connected
to the connection box on the sauna wall using a semi-permanent connection. The type of the connection cable
should be H07RN-F (VSN, VSB) with rubber insulation, or similar. Do not use a cable with PVC insulation,
since PVC does not endure heat. The connecting diagram is attached to this manual (picture 5) and it can also
be found on the connecting box of the heater. Do not connect the heater’s power supply through the ground
fault interruptor. Remove the fuse, before detaching the oven from the wall.
Connect the heater before mounting it on the wall as follows: 1. First remove the wall fastening on the
backside of the heater, open the upper fastening screws on the sides of the heater and loosen the lower ones. 2.
Fasten the rubber grommets and cable clamps. 3. Draw the cable through the rubber grommet to the
connecting box. 4. Fasten the cable to the cable clamp and to the connector as shown on the connecting
diagram. 5. The cable should be short enough so that it does not run under the stone space or near the bottom
plate of the heater.
The connector has a reservation for a control system of the electrical heating in the house (or alternatively for
an indicator light for the heater). For this additional connection, another rubber grommet and cable clamp with
screws are included in the package. The type and the size of the control cable should be similar to the
connection cable. The 230 VAC control voltage for the relay used in controlling the electrical heating is
supplied from the heater. The cross-sections and quantities of the conductors as well as the fuse sizes are
shown on the technical chart. Do not mount the splash-proof connecting box on the wall higher than 50 cm
from the floor of the sauna room.
