Gravity ventilation (natural ventilation) (picture 5):

The best way to lead the incoming fresh air into the sauna room
is directly from outdoors through a pipe
with a diameter of about 100 mm, preferably from underneath or near the heater and near the floor (b), or
alternatively from above the heater (a). Special attention should be paid to effective mixing of fresh air with
the air and steam in the sauna room. Exhaust air is led out preferably from underneath the sauna benches (d).
The drying vent should be placed near the ceiling (f). The exhaust air opening should be placed as far as
possible from the fresh air opening. Exhaust air can also be let out through the shower room, e.g. underneath
the door (e). During the pre-heating period, the exhaust air opening can be closed. The diameter of the opening
for exhaust air should be larger than that of the fresh air opening and the exhaust air opening should be placed
higher than the fresh air opening.

4. OPERATION AND SERVICE

WARNINGS:

Your Kastor sauna heater is designed for a home sauna and to heat the sauna to a normal sauna

temperature, and it should not be used for any other purpose. Check the steam room before switching on the
heater. Be careful when the heater is switched on - stones and metal parts of the heater can be burning hot. Be
careful near the heater at all times, because the floor may be slippery. When throwing water on the stones, be
careful with hot spatter and steam. Small children should always be under supervision of adults while having a
sauna. Do not operate the heater regulators immediately after throwing water because of the hot steam. Do not
throw too much water on the stones at one throw to avoid excessive steam. Do not cover the heater with
anything or use it without stones. Free air circulation, especially behind the heater, should be ensured. Do not
hang any flammable objects (e.g. clothes or carpets) above or too near the heater. Otherwise you may risk a
fire. This heater is not designed to be used with seawater. Only one electric heater should be installed in one
sauna room. Check the fastening of the heater before switching it on. Check that the timer of the heater has
switched the heating elements off after the set time. Please contact the manufacturer, if you have problems or
questions during the warranty time, prior to any repairing measures. For hand protection, use gloves when
servicing or cleaning the heater. Remove the fuse, before detaching the oven from the wall. Any adhesives and
plastics should be removed before using the heater! Do not lift the heater by the heating elements!

4.1. Sauna heater stones

Do not use your sauna heater without stones. We recommend using traditional mined stones (e.g. peridotite or
olivine). In electric heaters the diameter of the stones should be from five to ten cm. If placed incorrectly,
ceramic stones may shorten the lifetime of the heating elements significantly. Wash the stones with a brush
before placing them on the heater. Check their condition at least twice a year. If pieces of stone keep falling on
the sauna floor, the stones are disintegrating. The warranty does not cover damages caused by the blocking of
the air circulation in the heater due to too small or disintegrated stones.

4.2. Filling the stone space

Begin with big and round stones to avoid small and flat ones falling out of the stone space. Fill the stone space
in three phases. 1. First fill the space between the heating elements up to half the heater. 2. Fill the space
outside the outer heating elements up to half the heater. 3. Place the rest of the stones equally up to the upper
edge of the heater. You can set the smallest stones on the top, but leave enough space between them to let the
air circulate freely. If air circulation is blocked, the heating elements and the entire heater may suffer damage.
Also, try to avoid stones being wedged against the heating elements. Always fill the stone space up to the
upper edge of the heater. You can reduce the amount of stones needed by placing them sparsely. Check the
stone amount on the table 1.
