Communication

GPS signals that interpret machine position are relayed by satellites. This positioning
capability could be reduced or lost if the signals are obstructed or blocked. This situation
would be most common in urban areas where tall buildings are located. Tunnels,
underpasses, parking garages, trees, and similar obstructions may also affect positioning
performance. Under these conditions, the system will operate, but the telematics system
may have difficulty identifying the current location of the machine in addition to
transmission of the data collected by the TCU.

The telematics system uses wireless service technology for communication and can only
be operated in geographic areas where compatible wireless coverage is available. There
are various rural and mountainous areas where coverage is marginal or does not exist.
Service is also subject to transmission limitations caused by atmospheric conditions.

Local wireless service provider systems can only handle a limited number of wireless
service calls at a given time. Once volume has reached the maximum limit, additional
callers are denied access. If this situation occurs when there is an telematics request for
services, the telematics system application will automatically redial.

The telematics system operates as a radio communications system. The proximity to other
radio signals created by other electrical devices may adversely affect the performance of
the system.

Note: The system will not work unless your machine is in a location where an agreement with
a wireless service provider is established for that location.
