Observed Problem

Possible Cause

Solution

Gripper slipping.

Gap between tensioning
wheel and slide plate too
large.

Adjust the gripper gap adjustment screw to
set gap to .003”-.004”.

Important: Never let the tensioning wheel
touch the slide plate.

Gripper slipping.

Clogged tensioning wheel.

Clean the wheel as needed. If knurls are
worn to the point of slipping, replace.

Gripper slipping.

Worn slide plate.

Remove the slide plate and turn over to
expose unused side. If both sides are worn,
replace.

Important: Only replace with

BAND-IT

part

number XE4819.

Stalled or sluggish cut-off.

Low air pressure.

Turn up air pressure.

Stalled or sluggish cut-off,
and / or partially formed
lock.

Worn jaws or cutter.

Replace worn components.

Troubleshooting Guide

Reversible Slide plate.

Only replace with BAND-IT part number XE4819

Gripper gap adjustment screw and lock nut

Do not apply any lubricant or cleaner to the tensioning
wheel. Liquids will cause shavings to stick to the wheel
and shorten gripper life.
