The Intelix AVO-V1-WP wallplate balun transmits one composite video signal over stan-
dard structured cabling, such as Cat 5. Used in pairs or with a rack-mountable Intelix AVO-
V1 balun, AVO-V1-WP baluns replace bulky coaxial video cable and transmit a video
signal up to 2,200 feet.

The Intelix

AvoCat Series of baluns is the ideal solution for sending video over structured

cabling. When signal quality matters, choose Intelix.

To install an AVO-V1-WP balun, perform the following steps:

1. Turn off power and disconnect the video equipment by following the manufacturer’s

instructions.

2. Run your unshielded twisted pair cabling, such as Cat 5.
3. The AVO-V1-WP

balun works in pairs or with other compatible Intelix baluns,

such as the AVO-V1 rack-mountable balun. Connect the AVO-V1-WP

balun to the

source device with a composite video cable.

4. Connect a second AVO-V1-WP or compatible balun to the destination device.
5. Connect a structured cable, such as Cat 5, to each RJ45 connector of the baluns.

Verify the pinout on the connector conforms to the EIA/TIA 568A or 568B
pattern standards.

6. Power-on the video equipment and check the picture quality. The video should be

clear and sharp within the maximum specified distances.

Installation

Caution: Do not mount the balun over equipment ventilation openings. Covering the

openings may cause the equipment to overheat.

Caution: Do not attempt to disassemple or alter the balun housing. There are

no user-serviceable parts inside the AVO-V1-WP. Modifying the unit
will void your warranty.

Caution: Do not connect the AVO-V1-WP to a telecommunication outlet

wired to unrelated equipment. Making such a connection may damage
the equipment and/or balun. Please ensure all wiring is “straight-
through.”
