10. Slide the upper collar over the end of the specimen as shown
in Figure 2-2 and let it rest on the lower collar.
11. Install the split button-end adapter into the upper collar as
shown in Figure 2-2.
WARNING
Failure to zero dc error will result in sudden actuator
movement.
This can cause injury to personnel and/or damage to
e q u i p m e n t .
Do not apply system hydraulic pressure with other than zero dc error
(command = feedback).
12. Apply full system hydraulic pressure according to applicable
system procedures. Use extreme care not to cause rapid
actuator movement when performing the following steps.
Place upper
collar and
adapter over
specimen and
rest them on
lower collar
Extend actuator until
specimen contacts
upper base
Ensure equal
measurement all
the way around
Slide collar and
split button-end
adapter up
specimen to
upper base
Ensure equal
measurement all
the way around
Secure with socket
head cap screws
