318 Load Unit: Component Identification
Component Descriptions
I TEM C OMPONENT D ESCRIPTION
1 Crosshead Moves the up and down the column to accommodate different sized
specimens and fixtures. The crosshead is stiff and light weight; it is one end of
the force train.
2 Crosshead locks Clamps the crosshead to the columns. The locks are hydraulically powered.
3 Crosshead lifts Raises and lowers the crosshead hydraulically to accommodate different
specimen sizes. The lifts are small hydraulic actuators.
