MAINTENANCE/SERVICE

Traction Drive: Neutral Set-Up
Procedure (continued)

8. The following adjustment is designed to give the

maximum clearance between the neutral lock
adjustment bolts and the pintle arms without
having the wheels turn. This results in easy
locking of the steering wheel into the neutral
position.

Perform this adjustment for each of the four

neutral lock adjustment bolts, starting at the
rear bolt and working towards the front.
Remember: Rear pintle arm controls left wheel,
front pintle arm controls right wheel.

• Have a second person grasp the front steering

pivot (F) and continuously rotate it back and
forth while you slowly turn adjustment bolt
counter-clockwise (away from pintle arm). Find
the maximum clearance position without having
the wheel turn.

• Hold bolt with a wrench and tighten jam nut to

secure the position.

• Repeat clearance adjustment until all four bolts

are properly positioned.

9. Shut off engine and remove key.

10. Adjust ground speed lever to center of neutral

detent. See Check #7 on page 100.

11. Repeat steps 6 to 10 if required.

12. Remove jumper wire installed in step 5 and

lower drive wheels to ground.
