Calibrating A GX-2003 With
the Data Logging Software

A GX-2003 can be calibrated using the GX-2003 Data Logging
Software. The calibration function is available in the Set window.
To perform a calibration you will need a calibration kit. This
section describes calibration using a calibration kit that includes
a demand flow regulator. If a calibration kit is used that includes
a sample bag and a dispensing valve instead of a demand flow
regulator, connect a sample bag filled with calibration gas to the
GX-2003’s inlet fitting when applying gas instead of connecting
the demand flow regulator to the GX-2003’s inlet fitting.

To calibrate the GX-2003 you will need the following items:

• Known calibrating samples of the gases being detected. The

combustible and toxic gas samples should have
concentrations in approximately the middle of the range of
detection. A 3-gas or 4-gas mix, depending on your
instrument version, is recommended so that all channels
(other than % volume CH4 if it is installed) may be calibrated
at once.

• If a TC % volume sensor is installed, this sensor will need to

be calibrated individually. A 50% volume methane in nitrogen
cylinder is recommended for calibration of the TC % volume
sensor.

• A demand-flow regulator to provide adequate sample gas

flow

• Non-absorbent tubing to connect the regulator to the GX-

2003’s inlet fitting

CAUTION: Calibration using the GX-2003 Data Logging

software should be done in a fresh air area, an area
free of combustible and toxic gases and of normal
oxygen content (20.9%). If you suspect the area is
not a fresh air area, apply zero air to the instrument
when performing a zero operation.
