9.

Rotate the gauge wheel for the number of turns for
one acre or hectare. If you are using standard spac-
ing, you can use the acremeter to tally acres simu-
lated.

You can also rotate the gauge wheel jackshaft by
means of a wrench or socket, on the drill side that
does not have the acremeter. When turning the
gauge wheel jackshaft, count tire rotations, as the
axle and jackshaft sprockets are not 1:1

10. Weigh containers with metered seed.

11. Subtract initial empty weight of container(s).

12. Divide by three to obtain rate per row.

13. Multiply by the number of active openers on your drill

to determine total pounds seeded per acre.

14. If this figure is different than desired, compute the

correction required in lbs/ac or kg/Ha. This is differ-
ence between the tested rate and the desired field
rate (not the chart rate used for setup).

In the Seed Rate chart, if the measured rate was too
high, pick a new chart population that is lower by the
error amount.

In the Seed Rate chart, if the measured rate was too
low, pick a new chart population that is higher by the
error amount.

Note: You may want to repeat the calibration procedure if

your results vary greatly from seed rate chart (by
more than the difference between adjacent chart
rows).

When drilling, check seeding rate by noting acres drilled,
amount of seed added to drill and seed level in drill box.
If you are seeding more or less than desired, adjust
seeding rate slightly to compensate for field conditions.

Example (step 10):
Our containers with seed weigh a total of:
13.6 lbs

Example (step 11):

SeedWeight

=

SampleWeight

-

ContainerWeight

12.3 = 13.6 - 1.3

Example (step 12):

RowRate

=

SeedWeight

/ 3

4.1 = 12.3 / 3

Example (step 13):

SeedRate

=

RowRate

x

ActiveRowCount

118.9 = 4.1 x 29

Example (step 14):
116.9 is 10.9 lbs higher than the 108 desired

Subtract the correction from the test chart population:
96 = 106.9 - 10.9
The closest chart rate to 96 is 95.7.
Use the 95.7 settings for the next test run.
