5. On the Confirmation page, click OK to confirm the action.

If you selected to restart the NAS appliance, the Restarting page displays.

NOTE:

While the Restarting page displays, the NAS Manager checks periodically to determine whether the

appliance is back online. If the NAS Manager detects that the appliance has come back online, it

automatically returns the NAS Manager to the home page.

NOTE:

If you shut down your system by pressing the power button, press but do not hold down the button to

get a normal shutdown. For an emergency shutdown, hold down the power button for approximately 5

seconds. An emergency shutdown causes any redundant dynamic volumes to regenerate when the system

starts again.

Managing Volumes

The NAS Manager allows you to reconfigure a volume and view the properties of a volume.

NOTE:

For managing your internal hard drives, see "

Advanced Disk and Volume Management

Reconfiguring a Volume

NOTICE:

Do not reconfigure the RAID 1 operating system volumes on any of the hard drives. Reconfiguring the

volumes destroys the operating system, requiring you to do a complete operating system reinstallation.

NOTICE:

Reconfiguring a data volume deletes all data on the existing volume and creates a new volume using the

next available drive letter that uses all of the available space.

1. Prior to reconfiguring the volume, manually remove all shares and persistent images.

2. On the NAS Manager primary menu, select Disks.

3. On the Disks page, select Volumes.

4. In the Volumes column, select the volume for which you want to view properties.

5. On the Tasks list, click Reconfigure ....

6. Select the New Layout, which is either RAID-5 or RAID-0.

7. Click OK to delete and reconfigure the volume.

NOTE:

If the volume is in use, the system does not complete the deletion and reconfiguration operation and

displays the message Use Array Manager. The administrator can use Array Manager to force the deletion of

the volume.
