Configuring Software RAID

If the operating system is preinstalled on your system, creating a RAID 1

If you are reinstalling or upgrading the operating system, perform the
following steps from the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to
configure a RAID 1 volume for the operating system.

1 In the Windows Storage Server Management window, expand the

Windows Storage Server Management (Local) tree.

2 Expand Disk and Volume Management and click Disk Management.
3 In the right window pane, right-click Disk 0 and select Convert to

Dynamic Disk.

4 In the Convert to Dynamic Disk window, select the two disks to be

mirrored and click OK.

5 In the Disks to Convert window, click Convert.
6 In the Disk Management dialog box, click Yes to convert the disks.

Both disks are converted to dynamic disks.

Next, the system automatically reboots.

Next, the MMC automatically loads and appears on your screen.

7 In the Windows Storage Server Management window, expand the

Windows Storage Server Management (Local) tree.
