1.

Follow the instructions in "

Preparing to Work Inside the Computer

."


 

2.

Remove the

keyboard

.


 

3.

Remove the

display assembly

.


 

4.

Remove the

palm rest

.


 

5.

Remove the existing modem:

a.

 

Remove the captive ground screw from the modem-cable ground wire and the M2 x 3- mm modem screw that secures the modem to the system

board.

b.

 

Pull straight up on the attached pull-tab to lift the modem out of the connector on the system board, and disconnect the modem cable.

 

6.

Connect the modem to the modem connector on the system board.

 

7.

Align the modem with the screw hole, and press the modem into the connector directly over the connector on the system board.

 

8.

Replace the M2 x 3-mm modem screw and secure the modem to the system board.

 

9.

Secure the ground screw to the system board.

 

10.

Connect the modem ground cable to the system board connector.

Cable connectors are keyed for correct insertion; do not force the connections.
