Align the notch in the module edge connector with the tab in the connector slot.

Slide the module firmly into the slot at a 45-degree angle.

Rotate the module down until it clicks into place. If you do not feel the click, remove the module repeat from Step 3a.

Replace the cover.

 

DIMM A Memory Module

DIMM A bay is located under the keyboard. Detaching the keyboard from the computer is not required to access the DIMM A memory module bay.

Remove the hinge cover (see

Hinge Cover

).


 

2.

Remove the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws at the top of the keyboard.

 

3.

Lift the keyboard only enough to lay it face down on the glidepad.

 

4.

If you are replacing a memory module, remove the existing module:

Use your fingertips to carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end of the memory module connector until the module pops up.

 

6.

Ground yourself and install the new memory module:

Return the keyboard to the normal position. Replace the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws located at the top of the keyboard.

Replace the hinge cover (see

).

 

Verify Memory Size

 

1.

Insert the battery into the battery bay, or connect the AC adapter to your computer and an electrical outlet.

NOTE:

If the memory module is not installed properly, the computer may not boot properly. No error message indicates this failure.

NOTICE:

If the cover is difficult to close, remove the module and reinstall it. Forcing the cover to close may damage your computer.

NOTICE:

The keycaps on the keyboard are fragile, easily dislodged, and time-consuming to replace. Be careful when removing and handling the

keyboard.

NOTICE:

To prevent damage to the memory module connector, do not use tools to remove or replace the memory module.

NOTE:

If the memory module is not installed properly, the computer may not boot properly. No error message indicates this failure.

NOTICE:

If the keyboard does not lay flat, lift the keyboard, remove the module and reinstall it. Forcing the keyboard to lay flat may damage your

computer.
