Installing Memory

CAUTION:

Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in

the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE:

To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body

before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface

on the computer chassis.

NOTE:

If you have incorrectly installed memory, when you start your computer you will receive an error message.

Press <F2> to enter system setup and help identify the error. See "

Memory Overview

" for information on installation

guidelines.

1. Follow the procedures in "

Removing and Replacing Parts

."

2. Press out the securing clip at each end of the memory module connector.

NOTE:

Memory modules should be installed in the following order: connectors DIMM_1 and DIMM_2, DIMM_3 and

DIMM_4, and then DIMM_5 and DIMM_6. See "

" for information on installation guidelines.
