Press down on the top of the fan to snap the clip over the tab on the bottom edge of the microprocessor socket.

Connect the fan

to the system board.

Rotate the power supply

back into place.

Replace the computer cover

Plug your computer and devices into their electrical outlets, and turn them on.

As the computer boots, it detects the presence of the new microprocessor and automatically changes the system configuration information in the

system setup program.

Enter the system setup program

, and confirm that the Processor Type and Processor Speed options in the Main screen correctly identify the newly

installed microprocessor.

Replacing the System Board

1.

 

If possible,

enter the system setup program

and either print the system setup screens by pressing the <Print Screen> key or write down the screen

information before you turn off the computer because you will have to restore the configuration information after the system board is replaced.

Shut down the computer

3.

 

Turn off any attached devices and disconnect them from their electrical outlets.

4.

 

Disconnect the computer power cable from the wall outlet, and then press the power button to ground the system board.

5.

 

Remove the computer cover

.

6.

 

Remove the power supply

.

7.

 

Disconnect any cables connected to cards, and then

remove the cards

.

8.

 

Disconnect all internal cables from the system board.

9.

 

Remove the microprocessor

.

10.

 

Remove the memory modules

.

11.

 

Push the system-board retaining clip until it disengages.

 

12.

 

Slide the system board forward until is no longer held by the standoffs that secure the system board to the computer frame.

NOTICE:

To connect a network cable, first plug the cable in to the network wall jack and then plug it in to the computer.

Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in "

CAUTION:

To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before opening the cover.

NOTICE:

To disconnect a network cable, first unplug the cable from your computer and then unplug it from the network wall jack.

HINT:

You may need to slide the board toward the front of the computer to clear the hooked standoffs before you can lift the board from the computer.
