Installing the System Board Assembly

 

 

1.

Unpack the new system board assembly.

 

2.

Align the system board tray so that the tabs on the chassis floor slide into the notches in the system board tray.

 

3.

Slide the system board tray backward until it stops.

 

4.

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screw that secures the system board tray to the chassis. See

Figure C

-2

.


 

5.

Connect the fan cables to the FAN1 and FAN2_5 connectors on the system board. See

Figure 6

-1

in "Installing System Board Components."


 

6.

Connect the two power cables to the PWR_CONN1 and PWR_CONN2 connectors on the system board. See

Figure 6

-1

in "Installing System Board

Components."

 

7.

Connect the riser card. See "

Installing the Riser Card

" in "Installing System Components."


 

8.

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the two screws that secure the riser card to the system board.

 

9.

Install any PCI expansion cards that you removed. See "

Installing an Expansion Card

" in "Installing System Components."


 

10.

Connect the hard-drive interface cables:

a.

 

If SCSI hard drives are installed, connect the interface cable to the PCI controller card.

b.

 

If SATA hard drives are installed, connect the interface cable to the SATA_0 and SATA_1 connectors on the system board. See

Figure 6

-1

in

"Installing System Board Components."

 

11.

Install the processor and heat sink. See "

Replacing the Processor

" in "Installing System Components."


 

12.

Install the memory modules. See "

Installing Memory Modules

" in "Installing System Components."

 

13.

Connect the two control-panel interface cables to the CP_CONN and USB_HEADER FRONT connectors on the system board. See

Figure 6

-1

in "Installing

System Board Components."

 

14.

If applicable, connect the CD drive interface cable to the IDE1 connector on the system board. See

Figure 6

-1

in "Installing System Board Components."


 

15.

Install the cooling shroud. See "

Replacing the Processor

" in "Installing System Components."
