Troubleshooting

button for a massage
from the middle of your
back to your shoulders.

system. Select Full Back,
Upper Back or Lower Back
for a 15-minute massage.
Press the Power button again
to turn off the massage. The
button will flash while the
massage rollers return to the
bottom of the back.

from your lower back to
the middle of your back.

from your lower back

The massage range
varies depending on
your height and weight.
– To reduce the risk of serious injury:
• Do not use unit if power control is damaged or wet. Do not use unit if the hand wand has
been dropped in water or any liquid. Contact your La-Z-Boy ® dealer for service.

– To reduce the risk of serious injury:
• Do not attempt to disassemble or service the pump or motor; no serviceable parts are
inside. Contact your La-Z-Boy ® dealer for service.
• Check the condition of the power transformers, electrical cords, plugs and connectors
monthly. Keep the power transformers and electrical cords away from heat sources.
Never operate the unit with a damaged power transformer, electrical cord, plug or
connector. Contact your La-Z-Boy
® dealer for service.
• The 1SM and 1SN Shiatsu massage chairs are intended for a single occupant not
exceeding 300 pounds. Do not operate the chair with more than one occupant
in or on any part of it.
WARNING
Troubleshooting for Shiatsu Massage Recliner
There are no user maintenance or repair requirements. If the Shiatsu massage function
does not work, check the following:
1. Make sure the 120 volt power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
2. Make sure the electrical outlet is working. For example, make sure there are no blown
fuses or tripped circuit breakers.
3. Make sure all the connectors are secure; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
4. Make sure the electrical cords are not crimped or pinched. Make sure the electric cord
or plug is not damaged.
5. Make sure the operating capacity has not been exceeded and there is only one
occupant in the unit.
If the Shiatsu massage recliner still does not operate properly, contact your dealer for
instructions on returning the chair for examination and repair. Except for replacement
of the power transformer, never attempt to make any repairs or adjustments yourself.
Shiatsu Massage Recliner Power Transformer Replacement
If the power transformer must be replaced:
1. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
2. Disconnect the power cord from the power transformer; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
3. Disconnect the power transformer from the connector behind the chair; refer to the
Assembly Instructions.
4. Push the replacement power transformer connector into the connector behind the chair,
and push the power cord into the power transformer; refer to the Assembly Instructions.
Make sure the connectors are securely fastened.
