9101 LAN Chassis

Problem:

The power LED on an media converter does not turn on.

Solution:

Check that at least one 9101 LAN Chassis power supply
indicator is illuminated to confirm that the supply is operational.
Ensure that the appropriate DC pigtail cable is properly attached
between the DC connector on the power distribution board and
to the +24VDC connector on the 8829 Media Converter (white-
tipped plug, green/white wires
) or to the +5VDC connector on
the 9119 Media Converter (black-tipped plug, green/black
wires
).

If the power indicator on the original media converter does not
illuminate, replace the DC pigtail cable with the appropriate color-
banded type and reconnect the media converter to the power
distribution board. If the problem persists, contact the Canoga
Perkins Customer Service Department for assistance.

If the power LED indicator on the media converter still does not
illuminate, replace the media converter with another unit to verify
that the 9101 LAN Chassis power supply and power distribution
board are operational. If the power indicator on the media
converter now illuminates, the original media converter is
defective and should be returned for service.

4.2.1 Power Supply (P/S) Replacement

The individual AC and DC power supplies used in the 9101 LAN chassis are
designed to provide sufficient current to power a fully loaded chassis, regardless of
the media converters used. However, a second hot swappable power supply can
be put into service if power supply redundancy and fault tolerance are required.
When a second power supply is introduced, the two power supplies will load share
to provide power supply fault tolerance, as well as improve power supply MTBFs.
The load sharing nature of the power supplies also guarantees that if a supply does
fail, it will carry the load without hitting the voltage line, or affecting data on the
media converters in the chassis.
