• 3. Configuration Name: Name for configuration, typically MAC address, up to 32 characters
• 4. Configuration Revision: Set a revision level between 1 and 65535, used with Multiple

Spanning Tree (MST) setup; all instances in the same MST region must use the same
configuration name and revision number

• 5. Priority: Set the relative precedence within the STP control structure for the 9151, from 1

(highest) to 65534 (lowest). The highest priority sets the root bridge, the bridge that controls
the spanning tree. If two or more bridges share the same priority, the lowest MAC address
defines the highest priority.

• 6. Hello Time (sec): Set how often the 9151 sends BPDUs if this 9151 is the STP root.
• 7. Forward Delay (sec): Set the time between port state transitions from Learning to Forward

if this bridge is the STP root.

• 8. Max Age (sec): Set the Timeout value, how fast the 9151 deletes addresses from the

forwarding database.

• 9. BPDU Forwarding Mode: Normal, Blocking, or Forwarding On Same VLAN

3. To view or update parameters for a specific port, type

10

, "View/Change Interface," and press

<Enter>, then press <Space> to cycle through the port names. You can edit various parameters,
such as Admin Mode enable/disable, Priority 0-240, Path Cost 0 = autocalculate or 1-200000000,
and Edge Port true/false.

4. To return to the Switch Configuration menu, press <Esc>.

Set Up LAGs

A LAG is a group of physical ports; for best results, make sure that the number of ports in each LAG
matches at the source and the destination. When a port is assigned to a LAG, it is dedicated to that
LAG and cannot be used for another purpose. Use the Lag Configuration screen to view and set LAG
parameters for the 9151. Before you set values for LAG parameters, you must set up the ports (see
"Check and Update Port Information" on page 3-18) and any STP parameters (see "Set Up Spanning
Tree Parameters" on page 3-18). To access the Lag
Configuration screen, follow these steps:

1. From the Switch Configuration menu, type

4

, "Lag Configuration," and press <Enter>.

2. At the Lag Configuration screen, type the number for an item and press <Enter>, then type the

LAG name or press <Space> to cycle through existing LAG names, and press <Enter>. Follow
the prompts on the LAG [name] Definition screen to update these parameters as needed:

• 1. Lag Name: Up to 15 characters
• 2. Admin Mode: Enable or disable management for the LAG
• 3. Link Trap: Enable or disable Link Up/Down Trap
• 4. Actor Admin: Port name; can be any local port, even outside the LAG; then set these

parameters:
• LACP Activity: Active or Passive
• LACP Timeout: Long (30 sec) or Short (1 sec)
• Aggregation: Aggregatable or Individual (port can/cannot be part of a LAG)
