Set Up VLANs

Use the VLAN Configuration screen to view and set VLAN parameters for the 9151. Before you set
values for VLAN parameters, you must set up the ports (see "Check and Update Port Information" on
page 3-18), any STP parameters (see "Set Up Spanning Tree Parameters" on page 3-18) and any LAG
parameters (see "Set Up LAGs" on page 3-19). To access the VLAN Configuration screen, follow
these steps:

1. From the Switch Configuration menu, type

, "VLAN Configuration," and press <Enter>.

2. At the VLAN Configuration screen, type

to add a VLAN or type

to view or edit VLAN

information and press <Enter>, then follow the prompts on the VLAN X Information screen.

• 1. VLAN Name: Type a name, up to 32 characters
• 2. Convert to Static VLAN: No, keeps the VLAN dynamic or Yes, makes the VLAN static
• 3. View/Change Interface: Opens the XPx Information screen; for details, see step 7.

3. At the VLAN Configuration screen, to view a part of the VLAN list that does not appear on the

screen, type

, then enter the number of the VLAN where you want to start viewing the list.

4. To set up ID translation for a specific port, type

, then press <Space> to select that port; and

follow the prompts on the XPx VLAN ID Translation screen to set the original and regenerated
VLAN IDs. Be sure to enable VLAN translation at item

, "VLAN ID Translation."

5. To set up Priority translation for a specific port, type

, then press <Space> to select that port;

and follow the prompts on the SPx VLAN Priority Translation screen to set the original and
regenerated priorities.

6. To remove a VLAN, type

and press <Enter>, then type or select the VLAN number.

7. To set up VLAN information for a specific port, type

, "Configure Port VLAN," then press

<Space> to select that port; and set values for these parameters on the XPx Information screen:

• 1. List from VLAN ID: to view a part of the VLAN list that does not appear on the screen,

enter the number of the VLAN where you want to start viewing the list

• 2. Participation: Select specific numbers of VLANs that this port will participate in always

(Include), never (Exclude), or dynamically (Auto)

• 3. Tagging: Enter the VLAN number and e to enable, allow tags to remain on packets as they

exit the 9151; or d to disable, strip tags from packets before they exit the 9151, such as "

to enable keep tags on VLAN 2

• 4. Double Tagging: Enabled, add service provider ID tags to packets as they exit the 9151; or

Disabled, strip service provider ID tags from packets before they exit the 9151

• 5. Accept Frame: Accept frames for this VLAN Only or Admit All frames
