TROUbLESHOOTING GUIDE

NOTES:
1. Before starting the troubleshooting process, confirm that all system wiring has been done

according to the wiring diagram in this manual.
2. Control voltage refers to either a 2 or 24 VDC on-board power supply.
3. A voltmeter is recommended to effectively troubleshoot the TankMaster 4.
4. The discharge pump will not run unless a jumper wire is placed across pins 4 and 5; or, if using

a seacock interlock switch, unless the seacock is opened.

Symptom 1: Discharge pump will not run in the manual mode

(but runs in the automatic mode).

Step A
. Place the (-) voltmeter lead on pin 9 and (+) voltmeter lead on pin 2 of the terminal block.
2. Turn the key to the manual position.
3. Remove the TankMaster 4 faceplate. Remove the brown wire and the red wire from pin of

the keylock switch. Then place a jumper wire between the brown and the red lead wires.
u

If reading is equal to the control voltage, check for the following:

• Incorrect switch wiring or bad connections – confirm the wires are attached to the

keylock switch in the following way:
Red wires: terminal and terminal 8 on switch
Brown wire: terminal 2 on switch
Blue wire: terminal 7 on switch
u If reading is still equal to the control voltage, keylock switch is defective.
u If reading is not equal to the control voltage:
• Defective circuit board - internal relay K or transistor Q

Symptom 2: Discharge pump will not run in the automatic mode

(but runs in the manual mode).

Step A
. Place the (-) voltmeter lead on pin 9 and (+) voltmeter lead on pin 2 of the terminal block.
2. Turn the key to the automatic position.
3. Place a jumper wire across pins 6 and 9 of the terminal block.
4. Place a jumper wire across pins 7 and 9 of the terminal block.
u If reading is equal to the control voltage, check for the following:
• Loose connections within level indicator cap wiring
• Fouled float switches
u If reading is not equal to the control voltage, go to step B.

Step b
. Remove the TankMaster 4 faceplate. Remove the blue wire and the red wire from pin 8

of the keylock switch. Place a jumper wire between the blue and the red lead wires.
2. Place the (-) voltmeter lead on pin 9 and (+) voltmeter lead on pin 2 of the terminal block.
3. Place a jumper wire across pins 6 and 9 of the terminal block.
4. Place a jumper wire across pins 7 and 9 of the terminal block.
