Calibration

4.2.1 Standard Calibration

The XC880A is calibrated via the keyboard in a simple 2-step

Process. This requires the use of a known weight of at least 10% of scale
capacity. For accuracy, it is recommended that a calibration weight of
50% of capacity be used. The following is a step-by-step procedure to
guide the user through the calibration routine.

1. Press the numeral ‘2’ followed by the PARM key.
2. If a password is present, the user is prompted to enter the

password for access. Enter the previously stored code. (ref.
Section 3.6)

3. The XC880A prompts for “Scales in the system.” Use SCALE

SELECT to scroll through the number of sales in your system
(1, 2, 3, 4, or 5). Press ENTER when the correct number is
displayed.

3. The XC880A prompts to calibrate scale 1. Press ‘1’ if

calibrating this scale, or ‘0’ to prompt for calibration of the
next scale. Note: The calibration may be canceled at any time
throughout the procedure by pressing the ‘RESET’ key, which
will prompt the operator to cancel the calibration. If canceled,
the previous calibration coefficients will be retained
.

4. A prompt for “Units” appears. Use SCALE SELECT to scroll

through the allowed weighing units for calibration. When the
correct unit appears, press ENTER.

5. The XC880A displays the current scale capacity. To change the

capacity, scroll through the available capacities using the
‘SCALE SELECT’, and ‘TARE’ keys. Press the ‘ENTER’ key
when the desired capacity is displayed.

6. The current graduation size is now displayed. Leave this

setting as it or scroll through choices as in step 4. Press the
‘ENTER’ key when desired setting is displayed.

7. The prompt “Cal Scale?” requests a confirmation to proceed

with calibration. This prompt times-out after 5 seconds and
returns to the normal weigh mode if no key is pressed.

8. The XC880A now prompts operator to clear scale. Ensure no

weight is placed on the scale, and press ‘ENTER’. ‘Step 1’ is
displayed, along with a progress bar as the XC880A performs
its zero scale calculations.

9. When step 1 is complete, the operator is prompted for the

calibration weight. This value is defaulted to 50% of capacity,
but may be changed at this time. Enter the calibration weight
