7.1.4 Special Format Output

The XC880A may be set up to output one of five user

programmable formats on selected port. Special output formats are
programmed by entering codes that tell the scale to output either standard
ASCII characters (1 – 127), or special codes (128 – 255).

To edit, add or activate a special format on any communication

port, follow the procedure below.

1.

Enter the communication parameter setup routine

and select the desired port.

2. The currently selected format is displayed. Press SELECT until

“SPECIAL FORMAT” is displayed. Press ENTER.

3. The user is prompted to “LOAD FORMAT?”. Choose YES to

load a stored format, or NO to add or edit a format.

4. If NO was selected the display prompts with “ADD/EDIT

FMT?”. Choose YES to add a new format, or edit an existing
format.

5. If adding or editing a format, the user will be prompted to

begin entering codes. When done (code entered was 0), the
scale prompts to save the new or updated format under the
existing name or a new name if desired. The selected format is
then loaded, and used to output special data to the selected
port.
