ZIG-ZAG STITCH
The Zig-Zag Stitch can be used when sewing seams, appliqueing, monogramming
or decorating.

Seam finishing
Use a zig-zag stitch to finish seam
edges of fabrics that are likely to
unravel.
• Sew seams as desired; trim and
press open.
• Place edgeof seam allowance under
foot, as shown.
• Stitch close to edge, letting outer zig
zag fall over edge.

Satin stitching is a series of closely
spaced zig-zag stitches. Satin stitch
m o n o g r a m s , e m b r o i d e r y a n d
appliques for a smooth, satin-like
finish.
• P r a c t i c e t o g e t d e s i r e d s t i t c h
appearance.
Block Monogramming
• Lightly trace letters on right side of
fabric.
• Center tracing under needle.
• Stitch entire outline, leaving needle
in fabric when turning.
• Pull threads to wrong side of fabric,
tie and trim.
