2.6.4 SNR

Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is a measure of signal strength relative to background noise
usually measured in decibels (dB); the SNR measures the quality of a transmission
channel over a network channel. In digital communications, a higher SNR will cause a
reduction in data speed due to the source (transmitting) computer or terminal having to
resend some packets of data if errors occur. Generally speaking, the higher the SNR
value the better line quality, but the lower the performance.


The following table shows transmission settings, bandwidth and distances tested for
AWG 24 (0.5mm) twisted pair.

2.7 Power Connections

This unit must be powered by a +5Vdc, 2A power supply which is supplied with the unit
and is connected using a 2.5mm jack connector.
