Instructions for Use

Description
SR Triplex Cold is a cold-curing, PMMA-based denture base
material for the pouring technique. It offers you ease of
handling. Additionally, a veined version of the material is
available. The shades are coordinated with those of the
heat-curing SR Triplex Hot denture base material. To achieve
optimum results, read these Instructions carefully.

Composition
Powder
Polymethyl methacrylate, catalyst, pigments

Liquid
Methyl methacrylate stab., dimethacrylate, catalyst, stabilizer

Indication
– Partial dentures
– Combination dentures
– Relining
– Repairs

Contraindication
– Direct intraoral contact of unpolymerized material.
– If the patient is known to be allergic to any of the

ingredients in SR Triplex Cold

Side effects
In individual cases, local allergic reactions to polymethyl
methacrylate materials have been reported.

Application procedure
Preparation
Isolate the boiled out, well-wetted, hand-warm plaster
surfaces with two layers of Ivoclar Vivadent Separating Fluid
and allow it to dry. To ensure an adequate bond with the
denture base, well roughen the teeth, provide mechanical
retention and wet with monomer.

Dosage
– Ideal mixing ratio for one partial denture

13 g polymer (powder) : 10 ml monomer (liquid)

– With dosage system

Polymer: 1st graduation on measuring cylinder
Monomer: 10 ml

Too high a monomer content alters the shade and
handling properties of the material. Additionally,
polymerization is impaired. This may result in
irritation of the mucous membrane.

Mixing
Thoroughly mix polymer and monomer in the given ratio
with a spatula. Allow the material to rest for 15 seconds to
permit any trapped air to rise.

Flow phase
At room temperature (23 °C / 73 °F), the flow phase is 2.5
to 3 minutes. Pour the material into the saddle within this
time span.
A higher room temperature shortens the working
and the setting time.

Modelling phase
After a transition period of approx. 5 to 6 minutes, the
material has set. It can be modelled during an additional
3 minutes.
Maturing time and working time depend on the
room temperature.

Polymerization
Polymerization is carried out in a pressure device (eg
Ivomat) at 40 °C / 104 °F and at 2 to 6 bar pressure for
15 minutes.

Finishing
Remove precast and finish in the usual manner.
Subsequently, polish the surface to a high gloss.

Repair and correction possibilities of
SR Triplex Cold
Corrections and repairs can be carried out with SR Triplex
Cold or ProBase Cold. Thoroughly roughen the
corresponding surfaces with a bur and wet with monomer.
Subsequently, apply the mixed material and polymerize
according to the corresponding Instructions.
The residual monomer content after polymerizing the
material according to the method described is <4.5%.

Warnings
– The monomer contains methyl methacrylate (MMA).
– MMA is easily flammable and irritating (flash point

+10 °C / 50 °F).

– Irritating to eyes, skin, and respiratory system.
– May cause sensitization by skin contact.
– Avoid contact of the skin with monomer or uncured

material. Commercial medical gloves do not provide
protection against the sensitizing effect of methacrylates.

– Do not breathe vapour.
– Keep away from sources of ignition – no smoking.
– Do not empty into drains.
– Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
