gigaBit Stack

core gigaBit Stack

● Fault Tolerant Ring Stacking

» No interruption to service of entire stack

if any link between two units is broken,

as stack traffic is redirected toward

opposite direction.

● High-Speed Physical Stacking

» Each stacking port provides 20Gbps

full-duplex operation.

» Shared 40Gbps full-duplex band width

per stack.

● Scalable Expansion

» Up to 12 units, 576 Gigabit ports per

stack.

● Trunking & Mirroring Across

Stack

» Allows trunking and mirroring to span

multiple switch units in the stack.

● 10-Gigabit Uplinks

» Open slots for optional 10-Gigabit

modules for uplinks to network servers

and backbone.

● Complete Layer 2 Functions

» 802.1Q VLAN, Double VLAN, LACP

Trunking, STP/RSTP/MSTP.

● Layer 3 Functions

» RIP v1/v2/ng, OSPF, VRRP.

» Up to 256 IPv4 Static Routes, 128 IPv6

Static Routes.

● Multicast Support

» IGMP Snooping, MLD Snooping, IGMP

v1/v2/v3, DVMRP, PIM-DM/SM.

● Quality of Service

» 802.1p, 8 priority queues, L2/L3/L4 Multi-

Layer CoS.

● Traffic Management

» Traffic Segmentation, Bandwidth Control

Down to 64Kbps, Broadcast Storm

Control, Jumbo Frame.

● Security

» IP-MAC-Port Binding Port Security,

L2/L3/L4 ACL, RADIUS/TACACS+

Authentication, SSH/SSL, 802.1X

Port/MAC-based access control, MAC-

based/Web-based Access Control

(MAC/WAC), CPU Interface Filtering.

● Safeguard Engine

» Prevents ARP broadcast storm and

protocol-based attacks.

» ASIC is used to execute this prevention

task to offload switch’s CPU workloa

● ZoneDefense

» Operates with D-Link NetDefend

firewalls, automatically quarantines

infected workstations and prevent them

from flooding the network with malicious

traffic.

These switches comprise the network core devices that combine performance with

scalable flexibility and versatile management. They offer physical Ring stacking, fault

tolerance, optional 10-Gigabit uplinks, Layer 3 packet routing and robust security/QoS

-- all the features are typically found in the more expensive chassis-based solutions.

Optional 10-Gigabit modules can be installed in the open slots to create a physical stack.

Up to 12 units can be stacked together to create 576 Gigabit ports. Users can install

one or two 10-Gigabit ports as stacking interfaces, depending on whether the linear or

fault-tolerant Ring stacking is implemented. Each stacking interface provides 20Gbps

full duplex transmission on the cost-effective coaxial cable. Modules with single 10-

Gigabit XFP can also be installed in any of the open slots for uplink to servers or a fiber

backbone.

Alternatively, a core Gigabit switch can operate as a stand-alone device. Embedded with

Single IP Management capability, a stand-alone switch can form part of a virtual stack,

where intra-stack traffic flows through the usual network wires, doing away with the costly

stacking cables. Without stacking cables, cable distance barriers and physical stacking

limitations, a virtual stack can comprise units that are located anywhere on the network

to minimize the impact of any single point of failure.

These switches implement the most advanced set of multi-layer L2/L3/L4 features in

the xStack series to ensure that critical network services like VoIP, ERP, Intranet and

video conference are securely and well served. Powerful management tools including

SNMP, RMON, sFlow and web-based interfaces allow administrators to perform most

management and configuration tasks effectively and with ease.
