The IP PBX (Private Branch Exchange) equipment unifies the voice network with

data applications, using the office LAN as the platform to connect IP phones to the

call manager. These devices offer a cost-effective alternative to the traditional analog

PBX, as owners do not have to maintain two separate networks for voice and data.

Moving and adding an employee to a phone system is as simple as unplugging a

telephone and plugging it to a new location, without the need for costly service calls

from legacy PBX vendors.

The IP PBX uses VoIP protocol to establish connections between users, and combine

the features of traditional PBX with the networking advantages of IP devices. These

devices use the SIP PBX technology to provide a new architecture for business

communication, enabling organization-wide management support and extensive

features such as multi-party conference calls, Interactive Voice Response (IRV) and

voice mail.
