MOBILE

COMMUNICATION

3g / 3.5g MoBile

AdApters & routers

The 3G/3.5G mobile adapters and routers provide broadband access for mobile

workgroups. Instead of connecting to a DSL or cable landline, they use the 3G/3.5G

services of mobile network operators. These adapters and routers are ideal for mobile

PC users, work teams, emergency response units, and corporate commute vehicles

that need to provide an Internet connection while on the move. As they are affordable

in price, they can also be used by 3G/3.5G service subscribing consumers to connect

to the Internet or set up hot spots without being tied to a single location. They allow

users to access private networks away from the office where a cable or DSL Internet

connection is not available.

● Wireless Networking on the Go

» Creation of wireless network for co-

workers to remote access office network

from a remote site.

» Wireless Internet access for passengers

on train, bus or boat.

● Mobile Video Transmission

» Direct connection of video cameras to

high-speed 3G/3.5G services to upload

pictures from a web camera as the car

is driven around.

● Internet Access from 3G/3.5G

Service Subscribers

» Share Internet among home users

where DSL or cable broadband wired

connection is not available.

● Emergency/Mobile

Applications

» Ideal for mobile users in press media,

finance/construction industries, police/

emergency rescue teams, impromptu

LAN parties at airports, hotels,

convention halls.

UMTS/HSDPA 3G Mobile Router

WiMAX AdApters &

routers

● Broadband Access

» WiMAX as the “last mile” connectivity at high

data rates.

» Broadband access to places where it has

been economically unavailable.

● Disaster Relief

» Providing broadband access to help

regenerate communication when all

communication infra-structure was destroyed.

● IEEE 802.16e-2005 Standard

» Latest industry specifications ensure a high level

of interoperability with other WiMAX products.

» Lower frequencies used for inherent signal

attenuation and improved range and in-building

penetration.

● Integrated Wi-Fi Sub-systems

» Shorter range wireless access system of a

few hundreds of meters’ radius, using free

unlicensed spectrum to provide access to a

broadband network.

» Wi-Fi used by end-users to access their own

network, which may or may not be connected
to the Internet.

● Integrated Internet Phone (VoIP)

» Voice communication over the Internet WiMAX

broadband connection at no phone charge or

nominal fee.

D-Link WiMAX adapters and routers provide wireless mobile long-range connection,

covering many kilometers of spectrum to deliver Internet connection to WiMAX end

users. These adapters are portable units and connect PC users through a PCMCIA or

USB interface to WiMAX Base Stations deployed by WiMAX Internet Service Providers.

Similarly, the WiMAX routers connect a group of users to WiMAX Base Stations also

deployed by WiMAX ISP. PC users in turn connect to the WiMAX routers through 802.11

Wi-Fi wireless or 802.3u Ethernet interfaces.

D-Link WiMAX provides standard-based broadband services for mobile operators. It

is based on the 802.16e-2005 standard and uses the OFDMA PHY as the interface

technology. It employs Mobile WiMAX implementations and smart antenna subsystems

for guaranteed signal transmission and reception. It can be used to deliver both fixed and

mobile applications to wide-ranging situations, such as:
• Connecting Wi-Fi hotspots with each other and to other parts of the Internet.

• Providing a wireless alternative to cable and DSL for last mile broadband access.

• Providing high-speed data and telecommunications services.

• Providing a diverse source of Internet connectivity as part of a business continuity plan.

If a business has a fixed and a wireless Internet connection, especially from unrelated

providers, they are unlikely to be affected by the same service outage.

• Providing nomadic connectivity.
