Input/Output Terminology

+V CONNECTIONS
These eight +V connections supply a DC voltage for the powering of external analog sensors. The first seven +V connections are bussed together and provide +12 VDC @ up
To 200mA total. The last +V connection (+V #8) has a jumper (located next to +V #8) that selects either +12 VDC, or +24 VDC. +24 VDC is generally used for 4 to 20 mA
sensors which require a higher voltage other than +12 VDC to operate correctly.

ATI CONNECTIONS

These eight ATI connections are for analog inputs. ATI stands for Analog Temperature Inputs. Each one of these inputs are jumper selectable for different types of analog

Inputs. These ATI inputs can be either thermistor (10K type 3), 0 to 10 Volts DC, 0 to 5 Volts DC, or 0 to 1 Volts DC and the jumpers are individually labeled THERM, 0-10V

0-5V, 0-1V. In addition to the jumper being set, the SAT III controller must also be programmed as to what type of analog device is connected to each analog input.

GND CONNECTIONS
These eight GND connections are provided for a common ground point for the analog inputs or analog output so that wiring connections to a good ground point is
available.

V-OUT CONNECTIONS

These eight V-OUT connections are for analog outputs. These V-OUT connections can provide an independent programmable adjustable DC voltage output anywhere from 0 to

15 VDC @ up to 10mA.

H CONTACTS CONNECTIONS

24 VDC is to be switched by these "H" relays. There is a load protection device called a varistor across each of the 8 relay output connections of the SAT III controller which limits
the allowable voltage to no more than 32 volts AC\DC maximum at 1 amp current draw for each relay output contact. Attempting to switch any voltage greater than 32 Volts or
current draws of more than 1 amp per contact could and will result in damage to the SAT III controller.

C CONTACTS CONNECTIONS

24 VDC is to be switched by these "C" relays. There is a load protection device called a varistor across each of the 8 relay output connections of the SAT III controller which limits

COM (FOR "H" and "C" CONNECTIONS)

Each of the eight individual COM connections connect to a single pair of "H" and "C" common relay connections. Common relay connection COM # 1 connects to both " H"
contact #1 and "C" contact #1, and common relay connection COM # 2 connects to both " H" contact #2 and "C" contact #2, and so on. A pre-made control output common

jumper cable (WM Part # PL100867) can be used to connect all eight of the relay common connections of the SAT III controller together.

24VAC & GND (POWER CONNECTIONS)
The

SAT III Controller power requirements are 24VAC and draws 20 VA. Please note: You must observe polarity when connecting the power connections to the SAT III

controller or else damage to the SAT III controller could result

R & T & SHIELD (SAT COMMUNICATIONS CONNECTIONS)

This RS-485 communications loop can be daisy chained from one satellite controller to the next, or the communications loop can be "home runned" to a power and switchable
comm board WM part # PL102224. The use of a shield twisted pair wire is required, such as WM part # WR-NL-WR-18. When connecting the communication wiring from
satellite controllers to other satellite controllers you must wire "R" to "R" and "T" to "T", and "SHIELD" to SHIELD".

HSS EXP COMM

This is a 6 pin Mini-fit connector, and this connector provides power and communications from the SAT III controller to WCC III / SAT III expansion boards. It is generally
called an HSS port. Currently there are two types of WCC III /SAT III expansion boards. The WCC3 V-Out RELAY board, and the WCC3 Binary Input with Delay board. The

WCC3 V-Out RELAY board requires 24 VAC and ground connections which is connected into these 6 pin Mini-fit connector terminals. The WCC3 V-Out RELAY board

and the WCC3 Binary Input with Delay board is also powered by the same 24 VAC transformer that powers the SAT III satellite controller. Communications from the SAT III
controller is also in this cable, along with a shield wire. The 6 pin HSS cable connections can also be daisy chained to other WCC3 V-Out RELAY boards and WCC3 Binary

input with Delay boards. Up to two WCC3 V-Out RELAY boards in the BINARY OUTPUT mode, and one WCC3 V-Out RELAY board in the V-Out mode may be connected
to the SAT III controller's HSS EXP COMM port. Up to two WCC3 Binary Input with Delay boards may be connected to the SAT III controller's HSS EXP COMM port and

these WCC3 V-Out RELAY boards and WCC Binary Input with Delay boards may be mounted remotely up to 120 feet away from the SAT III controller.

SAT ADDRESS DIPSWITCH

Controller s address: Switch # 1 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to #1 . Switch #2 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to #2. Switch # 3 ON sets the SAT III

Controller's address to #4. Switch # 4 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to #8. Switch # 5 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to # 16. Switch # 6 ON sets the SAT III
Controller's address to # 32. Switch # 7 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to # 64. Switch # 8 ON sets the SAT III controller's address to # 128. These eight switches are

Additive, so setting switch # 1 and switch # 2 ON, sets the SAT III controller's address to # 3, setting switch # 1 and switch # 4 ON, sets the SAT III controller's address to # 9.

Whenever setting the address dipswitch you must cycle power to the SAT III controller.

BINARY INPUT SWITCH 1 to 8 and BINARY INPUT SWITCH 9 to 16

The onboard removable Dipswitch on the front cover of the SAT III controller can be programmed to override the outputs, select alternative setpoint control and force occupied
conditions. There are two separate banks of dipswitches labeled Binary Inputs 1 to 8 and Binary Inputs 9 to 16. These switches can be removed, and with the addition of a
WCC Binary Input with Time Delay Board, now these binary inputs can be used as dry contact inputs, to do the following: Check / Log runtimes, verify flow switches, safety

Interlocks, timed overrides, etc. These conditions must be programmed on the Binary Input screen as "On Board" to use this dipswitch on the front of the SAT III controller.

When the "Off Board" is programmed on the Binary Input screen, then the HSS expansion cabling method must be used. As an alternative to having to remove the dipswitch(es)
To connect the WCC Binary Input with Time Delay Board, you can connect an HSS cable directly from the WCC Binary Input with Time Delay Board(s) to the SAT III controller's HSS
EXP COMM port. Up to two WCC Binary Input with Time Delay Boards may be connected by this method, and these WCC Binary Input with Time Delay Boards may be mounted

remotely up to 120 feet away from the SAT III controller.

TOP DIPSWITCH

BAT ON/OFF switch does nothing, it was suppose to blank out the memory on the CPU's RAM chip, it was a carry over from the old SAT II controller.
PULSE INPUT switch is used if the SAT III controller input #1 is to be used to measure pulses from a pulse meter.
OPTION 3 switch is not used at this time.
OPTION 3 switch is not used at this time.
OPTION 3 switch is used to determine what type of A to D chip is being used on the SAT III controller.
LOCAL SET DISABLE switch is used to disable the SAT III controller's LOCSET (LOCAL SET) mode.
LOCAL SET switch is used to enable the SAT III controller's LOCSET mode, and is used when the SAT III controller is still communicating to the WCC III - MCD.
TEST switch is used for testing purposes.
