Problems with Communications

Why can't I communicate through the built-in IR

port?

Confirm that the IR port of the 6642 is lined up with

the IR port of the other device. These ports should be

no more than 20 inches (50cm) apart without any obĆ

stacles.

Confirm that the IR communication is not turned off

in the IR dialog box.

"

Confirm that the item Mode of IR Port is set to IrDA

in the setup utility.

Turn off power management both in Windows and in

the setup utility.

"

Do not use the IR port under intense fluorescent light

or near cellular phones.

Why can't I communicate through the built-in modem?
(The built-in modem is not available in all countries)

Confirm that the item Modem is enabled in the setup

utility.

Confirm the telephone line is properly connected to

the modem jack.

Confirm the dial setting of the communication softĆ

ware are matched with the telephone line (Example:

To access an outside line, first dial 7" for local 1" for

long distance).

Confirm that the network configuration is appropriĆ

ate.

Confirm the user name or password is correct.

Confirm that the COM port in the communication softĆ

ware is set appropriately.
