Selecting the Subtitle Language
While playing back a DVD or SVCD containing subtitles in
different languages, you can select the subtitle language to display
on the TV.
The
icon appears at the beginning of playback when the current
scene has plural subtitles.
• Though you can do the following procedure for an SVCD which
contains no subtitle, it is not effective.
• You can also select the subtitle language using the on-screen bar.
See page 36 for details.
& During playback

Press SUBTITLE.
The following pop-up window appears on the TV.
Ex.: “ENGLISH” is selected out of 3 subtitle languages
recorded when playing back a DVD.
• For DVD: Some subtitle languages may be abbreviated in the
pop-up window. See “Language Code List” on page 68.

Press cursor
∞ / 5 repeatedly to select the
desired subtitle language.
• Each time you press the button, the subtitle language changes.
• For SVCD: Pressing SUBTITLE repeatedly also changes the
subtitles.
The pop-up window goes off if no operation is done for about
5 seconds.
To turn off the subtitle
• For DVD: Press SUBTITLE to select “OFF” while the pop-up
window appears on the TV.
• For SVCD: Press SUBTITLE repeatedly until “OFF” appears on
the pop-up window.

Press ENTER at the end of the portion you want
to repeat (point B).
A-B repeat playback starts. The selected part (between point A
and B) is played repeatedly.
To turn off the on-screen bar
Press ON SCREEN.
To cancel the A-B repeat playback
Select “OFF” in step
4 , then press ENTER.
While playing back a DVD
A-B Repeat is possible only within the same title.
Selecting a View Angle
While playing back a DVD containing multi-view angles, you can
view the same scene from different angles.
The
icon appears at the beginning of playback when the current
scene has multi-view angles.
• You can also select the angle using the on-screen bar. See page 36
for details.
& During playback

Press ANGLE.
The following pop-up window appears on the TV.
Ex.: The first view angle is selected out of 3 view angles
recorded.

Press ANGLE repeatedly to select the desired
view angle.
• Each time you press the button, the view angle changes.
Ex.: 1/3 ] 2/3 ] 3/3 ] (back to the beginning)
The pop-up window goes off if no operation is done for about 5
seconds.
