Restricting the Access Level—Parental Lock
You can restrict playback of DVD VIDEO containing violent scenes
and those unsuitable for your family members. Nobody can play
such a disc unless this function is canceled.
• You can set the Parental Lock only while a disc is not playing.
• This setting takes effect only for a DVD VIDEO containing
Parental Lock level information—Level 1 (most restrictive) to
Level 8 (least restrictive).
Playback of discs containing higher level than the selected level
will be restricted. Some discs may not be played back at all, and
others may be played back with higher level scenes skipped.
Ex.: When you select “4,” discs containing level 5, 6, 7, or 8 can
be played back.

Press CHOICE, then press cursor

∞ / 5 repeatedly to select (highlight)
“PARENTAL LOCK,” then press ENTER.
The PARENTAL LOCK submenu appears on the TV.

∞ / 5 repeatedly to select (highlight)
“COUNTRY CODE,” then press ENTER.
The pop-up window for setting the country code appears.

Press cursor ∞ / 5 repeatedly to select (highlight)
the country code, then press ENTER.
“SET LEVEL” is now selected (highlighted).

Press ENTER.
The pop-up window for level setting appears.

Press cursor ∞ / 5 repeatedly to select (highlight)
the level of restriction, then press ENTER.
• The smaller the value of level is, the more restrictive the
Parental Lock level is.
• Select “NONE” to cancel this function.

Press the number buttons (0 – 9) to enter a four
digit number for your password, then press
ENTER.
“EXIT” is now selected (highlighted).

Press ENTER.
The OTHERS menu resumes.
To return to the normal screen
Press CHOICE.
Remember your password or make a note of it
You need to enter your password to change the setting or release the
lock. To change the setting, see page 65.
