Capture and playback video with an HDV
camcorder

You can enjoy video and sound from an HDV
camcorder on the TV.
An HDV camcorder can send a “DV format” signal as
well as an “HDV format” signal. The TV is only capable
of playing back an “HDV format” signal.

NOTE

• Signals received on the TV from broadcasts or other

external equipment cannot be recorded on an HDV
camcorder.

• When the HDV camcorder is set to “DV compatible mode”,

HDV camcorder cannot be chosen in the i.LINK device
selection screen. (See page 36.) Please consult your HDV
camcorder's instruction manual for more information.

• You cannot turn on or off the HDV camcorder from the

i.LINK control panel

About the input select button

• The i.LINK control panel input select button is used to

select between output from the TV to i.LINK device and
input from i.LINK device. (When the i.LINK device is
selected on page 36, “output” will be selected.) When an
i.LINK device is played back during i.LINK selection, i.LINK
input will automatically be selected.

• When an HDV camcorder is connected to the TV and the

camera's mode is changed from video mode to camera
mode, input from HDV camcorder is automatically selected.

About the capture button

• The capture button on the i.LINK control panel is for

recording images and audio captured by the camera mode
of the HDV camcorder.

• When viewing images on the TV from broadcasts or other

equipment, the capture button has no effect.

Press i.LINK to display the i.LINK control
panel.

NOTE

• The TV cannot playback signals recorded in “DV format”.
• When a tape containing both “HDV format” and “DV format”

signals is used, the message “The TV cannot playback this
signal. Please check the HDV device settings.” appears
when the “DV format” signal is played.

• The TV cannot cue an HDV camcorder.

Capture video with an HDV camcorder

NOTE

• Some HDV camcorders include a “photo mode” for taking

still pictures. When an HDV camcorder is in “photo mode”,
the TV cannot control the camera via the i.LINK control
panel. Please consult your HDV camcorder's instruction
manual for more information.

• Some HDV camcorders will automatically go into standby

mode if they are left in camera mode for some time without
being used to capture anything. This disconnects the i.LINK
control. When this happens, you will not be able to operate
the HDV camcorder via the i.LINK control panel, so please
operate the HDV camcorder directly.

• Signals received on the TV from broadcasts or other

external equipment cannot be recorded on an HDV
camcorder.

Set the HDV camcorder to “video mode”.

• When the HDV camcorder is set to “camera

mode”, images from the camera cannot be
viewed on the TV.

• The HDV camcorder starts capturing video.
• To stop capturing video, select “

H” and then

press ENTER.
