INFRARED CONNECTOR – For connecting the K2
to a required connecting block (e.g., 857)

OS UPDATE JUMPER – Selects RUN or OS
UPDATE mode

RESET BUTTON – For resetting keypad when
changing between RUN and OS UPDATE modes

SPEAKER OUTPUT CONNECTOR – For connect-
ing a pair of room speakers to the internal relay

AMPLIFIER INPUT CONNECTOR – For connecting
an amplifier’s speaker output to the internal relay

EXTERNAL IR RECEIVER IN – For connecting an
external IR receiver

IR and Power Connections

The K2 keypad can be connected
using either CAT-5 or shielded 4-
conductor, 22-gauge 2-twisted-pair
cable. The maximum recommended
cable length is 250 feet for either
type of cable. See page 15 for the
wiring color codes for both cables.

• When using shielded 22/4 cable,

use one twisted pair for power
and ground, and the other twist-
ed pair for status and IR signal.
Always leave the shield open at
the keypad end.

• When using CAT-5 cable,

do not

connect the Orange/White and
Green/White to GND (ground) at
the K2 keypad.

Recommended Russound Cables

AW2260AB – shielded 4-conductor,
22 gauge 2-twisted-pair cable

AWCAT5 – 8-conductor, 24 gauge
CAT-5 cable

Speaker Connections

The amplifier and speaker terminals
connect to the K2’s internal relay for
muting a pair of speakers with the
Power key only. There is no speaker
volume control in the keypad.
