Security settings

It is advisable to apply certain security features in

case your Toshiba phone is lost or stolen.
You can apply the following security to prevent

unauthorised use:

• Device lock - using a password, this feature

prevents unauthorised use of your Toshiba

phone.

When this feature is activated, you will be

prompted for a password when you switch on

your Toshiba phone, and when you leave it idle

for a set period of time.

When this feature is activated, you will need to

enter the password before you can use your

Toshiba phone.

• Phone lock - using a personal identification

number (PIN), this feature prevents unauthorised

use of your SIM card in any phone. When this

feature is activated, you will be prompted for your

PIN when you switch on your Toshiba phone.

You cannot use the SIM card until the PIN is

entered correctly.

Enabling device lock

To enable the device lock:

1. From the Today screen, tap Start > Settings.
2. On the Personal tab, tap Lock.
3. On the Password tab, tick the Prompt if

device unused for checkbox, and select how

long your device can be left idle before a

password is required.

4. Select a password type.
5. Enter and confirm a password.

6. Enter a hint on the Hint tab if required.
7. Tap ok.
8. Tap Yes to confirm the changes.

NOTE: Emergency calls can be placed at any

time, without requiring deactivation of any

security feature first.

NOTE: Make a note of the password.

IMPORTANT: If you forget your password,

you will need to reinitialise your phone. Refer

to Reinitialising your Toshiba phone in

Care and maintenance for details. This will

delete any applications that you have

installed. You will also lose all personal data

such as music, ringtones and pictures, and

will need to restore the data from a backup

file.
