Control Testing). If the control result is within the
acceptable range, review proper testing procedure and
repeat your blood glucose test with a new test
strip. If your blood glucose result is still inconsistent
with your previous results, glucose trends or how you
feel, please contact your doctor. Follow the advice of
your doctor before you change your therapy.

Understanding Your Test Results

What’s Normal?

The normal fasting adult blood glucose range for a
non-diabetic is 70 - 105 mg/dL

. One or two hours

after meals, normal blood glucose levels should be
less than 140 mg/dL

. Your doctor will determine the

range that is appropriate for you.

Unusual Test Results

seems
unusually
high, or
low, or
inconsis-
tent with
your pre-
vious
results or
glucose

AND...

does not reflect the way you feel, check the
following:
• Does the test strip code number match

the code number on the meter?

• Was the blood sample applied to the test

strip within 3 minutes of removing it from
the vial?

• Was the size of the blood sample suffi-

cient?

• Was the test strip vial cap tightly sealed?
• Was the test strip used before the expira-

tion date?

• Were the test strips stored away from

extreme temperatures such as in the car
in very cold or hot weather?

• Were the test strips stored away from

areas of high humidity such as the
kitchen or bathroom?
