If a control test result is not within the acceptable range on your test drum container label, do not use the
meter until you solve the problem. Here are some things you can check:

1.

Check the “Use By” dates on the test drum container and
control solution bottle.

2.

Check the discard date on the control solution bottle.

3.

Make sure the test drum has not been in the meter

more than 90 days.

4.

Make sure the caps were tight on the test drum container and

control solution bottle.

5.

Make sure you followed all the testing steps.

6.

If none of the above apply …

Replace control solution or test drums that have expired.

Replace control solution you opened more than three months ago.
If the drum symbol (with or without the bottle symbol) is displayed,
the test drum has been in the meter more than 90 days or the drum
door has been opened and closed so the 90-day timer is not valid.
Replace the test drum.
If either has been open for a while, replace the test drum or control
solution.
Re-read Chapter 2, “Running a Control Test” and test again or ask
your healthcare provider for help.
Repeat the control test with a new test strip. If the result still is not
within the acceptable range, contact the ACCU-CHEK Customer Care
Service Center at 1-800-858-8072.

The control ranges apply only to control results. They only indicate that your test strips and meter are
working properly. Do not use control results to interpret blood sugar results.
