Axle and Carrier Assembly Model Identification
I Axle Specification Number
The complete axle is identified by the specification
number stamped on the rear right-hand side of the
axle. housing. This number identifies all component
parts of the axle as built by Spicer, including special
OEM requirements such as yoke or flange.
In addition, some axles
may include a metal
identification tag (see
illustration).

Ring Gear and Drive Pinion
are matched parts and must
be replaced in sets. Check the
appropriate Spicer Axle parts book
for part numbers and ordering
instructions.
To aid in identifying gear sets, both
parts are stamped with such infor-
mation as number of pinion and
ring gear teeth, individual part
number and matched set number
(refer to adjacent drawing).
