Initial Power Up

NOTE: for the checkout procedure, it may be more convenient to use the remote terminal. It can

be removed from the wall bracket and unplugged, and plugged into the chiller with another short

length of telephone cable. All procedures are described using the terminal shortcut keys, but can

be accessed through the menu on the built in display of the controller. See the controller operation

section for more detail.

• If all above procedures are performed and acceptable, turn on the main chiller disconnect.

• Check for and correct any alarms.

• Go to the MANUAL CONTRL screen. The password is 177. (See Maintenance section of this

manual for more detail on manual control)

• Go to DIGITAL OUTPUTS

• Scroll through the screens to check rotation and operation for each pump and compressor.

There are no safeties enable for manual operation, so each device should only be “bumped”

long enough to verify rotation.

Rotation Check:

NOTE: It is to be assumed that all of the devices are wired with the same rotation. Therefore, if a

device is running in reverse, all devices will be running in reverse. In this case the proper method of

reversing rotation is to swap two leads of the INCOMING power supply. Make sure the power feeding

the chiller is off before this is done.

It is recommended that rotation of all devices is checked before reversing any leads.

Cryo Compressor Pump (bronze PD pump)

Look at the coupling between the motor and pump. The rotation is CLOCKWISE if looking at

the front of the pump.

GCHE/GAHE Pump (SS centrifugal pump)

Look at the exposed shaft facing the outside of the chiller. There is a rotation arrow stamped

on the pump casing and adhered to the motor. It should be rotating COUNTER-CLOCKWISE

(if looking at the motor end).

Compressors:

If the compressor is rotating correctly, the suction pressure will drop and the discharge

pressure will rise. If the rotation is not correct, the compressor will not pump and the gauges

will not change.
