and the outer layer is powder coated steel. There is 1” of foam in between the layers. A 1” overflow

(vent), sight glass, and 1” fill fitting is installed on the main access side of the chiller. There is also

a 1⁄2” drain. Since the reservoir is vented to atmosphere, a backflow kit is provided to prevent water

from flowing out of overhead pipes and overflowing the reservoir. A water supply and hose should be

plumbed to the chiller for filling.

Each pump has a shut off valve on between the tank and pump suction, and a bypass between the

discharge and return to adjust flow. There are discharge pressure gauges for each pump. A strainer

and cleanout valve is installed for each refrigeration system.

CONTROLS

The chiller enclosure is a single enclosure with two sections. The upper section houses the controller

and pilot lamps. The lower section contains the main disconnect (non-fused) and all of the high

voltage components. The upper section can be opened for an operator to check the control panel.

The lower door is interlocked to the disconnect.

The controller contains a built in 4 x20 LCD display. There is a wall mounted terminal that is to be

mounted indoors. It is connected to the controller via a 6 conductor data cable. The cable has phone

jack style connections. 150’ of the cable is provided. The remote terminal receives it’s power from the

main controller, no additional power supply is required.

The controller has one digital input available for remote on/off. There are option BAS gateways for

TCP/IP, MODBUS, BACNet, and LONworks.

PLANNING DATA

Chiller Installation

The chiller and condenser should be installed on a level surface or sub base. Vibration isolation is

not provided by Schreiber Engineering and should be installed per requirements of local codes. The

bolt pattern diagram contains the corner weights for chiller and condenser mounted together (AC

configuration).

The chiller should be installed in an area free from dirt and debris than can clog the condenser coil. It

should also not be installed near any places where hot exhaust air would enter the condenser.
